Project Summary

In collaboration with Ecoscape (Landscape Architects) and Publik (Sign Fabricators), we designed a comprehensive suite of interpretive and wayfinding signage for Alkimos, an environmentally progressive and award-winning suburb in Perth’s northern corridor.

This custom-designed signage system was developed to reflect Alkimos’ strong environmental values, local identity, and cultural heritage. The project was proudly nominated for an AILA Award in Design.

Key features included:

  • A cohesive interpretive signage suite highlighting local flora, fauna, geography, and Indigenous history

  • An integrated wayfinding strategy to support ease of navigation throughout the suburb

  • Fully custom signage designs built for long-term outdoor durability

  • Accessibility enhancements, including non-powered interactive audio signs to enrich user experience for all visitors

The result is a visually unified, educational, and highly functional signage network that contributes to Alkimos’ unique sense of place, while supporting its environmental and community-focused vision.

Project Summary

Geographik was proud to partner with both Ecoscape and Publik to design the structural signage as well as the graphics for interpretive signage for the Cockburn Central West park.

The park is the combination of a playground and existing sensitive wetlands, combined with raised walkways and paths winding through the area.

Geographik was tasked with researching the content, and then designing the type and shape of the signage that would inform the public on the heritage of the area as well as the natural flora and faune that exist in the wetland. We also created hand-drawn sketches to compliment the text and bring visual interest to the interpretive signs.

We also came up with a unique signage shape design inspired by the mirlkoorn containers and bark ‘bowls’ from the local indigenous Noongar culture. Publik managed the fabrication and installation of the signage pieces, and the outcome was well received by both the public and the client.
